WHAT MEDICAL CONDITIONS QUALIFIES ME TO RECEIVE A MEDICAL MARIJUANA REGISTRATION CARD IN AZ?

The most renowned condition is Severe and/or Chronic Pain.

But all these conditions qualify as well: 


- Cancer

- AIDS

- HIV

- Hepatitis C

- Glaucoma

- ALS

- Agitation of Alzheimer's Disease

- Crohn's Disease 

- PTSD

If a chronic or deliberating disease or medical condition or the treatment for a chronic or deliberating disease or medical condition causes: 

- Cachexia or Wasting syndrome

- Severe Nausea

- Seizures Including Epilepsy Characteristics

- Severe and Persistent Muscle Spasms Including those Characteristics of Multiple Sclerosis




IF I AM ON PROBATION AND/OR HAVE A FELONY, CAN I STILL GET MY MEDICAL CARD?

CAN PATIENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 QUALIFY FOR A MEDICAL CARD?

YES, a patient under 18 can qualify with parent or legal guardian consent. You will need to get two (2) physician certifications and your parent or legal guardian will have to be your caregiver in order to purchase medicine for the underage patient.



WHEN DO I NEED TO UPDATE MY RECORDS?

The state requires you to have medical records dated within the last 12 months diagnosing you of your condition.  



WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE MEDICAL RECORDS DATED WITHIN' THE LAST 12 MONTHS? 

If you do not have any medical records dated within' the last 12 months, and your qualifying condition relates to the muscular or skeletal system, no worries! Our on-site doctor can update your medical records the same day visit!



HOW LONG IS MY MEDICAL CARD GOOD FOR?

Exactly one (1) year from issued date. The qualifying patient must apply for renewal at least 30 days before the expiration date.



WHAT IF I AM ELIGIBLE FOR (SNAP) BENEFITS?

If you are eligible for SNAP assistance and proper documentation is provided, your application fee will be reduced from $150 to $75. 

You will be required to upload a document showing that you are currently eligible for SNAP benefits. This document must have the patient’s name on it (such as your card with your name on it or your acceptance of benefits letter). SNAP cards without the name of the patient applying will not be accepted as proof of current SNAP benefits.



IF I GET MY MEDICAL CARD, WILL IT GET PUT IN ARIZONA OPEN RECORDS?


No, according to state law, the information that ADHS receives for the registry is confidential. It cannot be disclosed under the Arizona Open Records Law.



CAN MY EMPLOYER STILL FIRE ME FOR MARIJUANA BEING IN MY SYSTEM AFTER I GET MY MEDICAL CARD?

The Arizona Medical Marijuana Act states that an employer will not be able to penalize a qualifying patient with a registry identification card for a positive drug test for marijuana, unless the patient used, possessed, or was impaired by marijuana on the employment premises or during hours of employment. If you are unsure how the Act applies to you, consult an attorney licensed to practice law in Arizona.



WHEN WILL MY MEDICAL CARD COME IN THE MAIL?


After AZDHS completes the application, they will send the registry card to the patient in the mail within 10 business days.



HOW MUCH MARIJUANA AM I ALLOWED TO PURCHASE/POSSESS WHEN I GET MY CARD?


Each patient is allowed to buy up to two and a half (2.5) ounces (oz) every two (2) weeks. A patient is allowed to carry two and a half ounces on them at one time.



AM I ALLOWED TO GROW MARIJUANA?

A qualifying patient or the qualifying patient's caregiver may be allowed to grow marijuana only if a dispensary is not operating within twenty-five (25) miles of the qualifying patient's home.
